The idea for Cultivate was born from my passion for nurturing my best self — it's a one-stop shop for products that are the best versions of themselves.
My promise to you is that everything on Cultivate.la has been researched and vetted based on three criteria. First, it must be vegan—there is simply no conscionable reason for animals to suffer at the hands of humans, period. Second, it must use the least amount of plastic and packaging possible and be made with a consciousness toward its environmental impact. And third, it has to work! Products that fall short on promise are a waste of resources, in every regard.
For me, these criteria constitute compassion — for the planet and all life on it. Will my choices always be perfect? Nope. This site is a work in progress and mindful cultivation that will each day strive toward improvement.
These ideas aren't unique to Cultivate, but bringing them together here definitely feels like something new: A vegan general store built on compassion and stocked with beauty, housewares, fashion and more. For you, for me, and for all of us.
Do you know the environmental impact of your toothbrush?
Over 4.7 billion plastic toothbrushes are produced every year worldwide. These brushes, which never biodegrade, windup in our landfills and oceans. Which means, every piece of plastic ever created is still in existence. Not to mention, plastic toothbrushes made from crude oil, which we then put in our mouths each day. Brush with Bamboo is the world's first plant-based toothbrush. Every component of this amazing product is plant-based: bristles, handle, wrapper and box.
Our Green Tea + Fig Travel Candles are manufactured by Light 4 Life Cause.
Besides being made from food-grade bio-degradable coconut oil, through a partnership with Exceptional Children's Foundation (ECF), they are able to create beauty and opportunity. Working with adults living with disabilities, Light 4 Life trains individuals in the art of hand-crafted candle making. They also receive personalized coaching from ECF staff on both professional and life skills development.
There's no place for aluminum on your body,
especially your underarms! Aluminum has been linked to a variety of health issues including breast cancer, Alzheimer's disease and kidney problems. That's why we are so pleased to introduce NoTox Life's Aluminum-free Deodorant that actually works. No, really! They use enzymes to "eat" the bacteria that grows when you sweat, and all it takes is 1-2 swipes, with each tube lasting up to six months. We're positive you'll find a scent you love. Click to the right to check them out.

Is your perfume bad
Recently, articles have been popping up everywhere about the toxic ingredients in perfumes. From Time, Huffington Post, Scientific America, to Mother Jones and EWG (Environmental Working Group). Across the board everyone agrees it's probably best to just say no. According to the Time article, a lot of the perfume ingredients we use in the U.S. are actually banned in Europe. Not that we needed more reasons to love the beautiful Perfume Oils from Fizz Bath Co.
Know what's not sexy?
A known carcinogen that's found in most condoms. That's why we are BIG fans of Sustain. Not only are their condoms and lubricants nitrosamine-free, but free of chemicals from fragrances, odor masking agents, flavors, and spermicides many condoms contain. They don't stop there either, Sustain is the only Fair Trade certified, sustainably produced condom brand in the U.S. and 10% of their profits go towards women's reproductive health for low income families in the U.S. In addition, the workers harvesting the latex have access to free medical care and school for their kids. Now you can do good while getting down!
